01 · COUNTRY OVERVIEW

United Arab Emirates at a glance

United Arab Emirates offers distinct education, career and travel possibilities. The best city and pathway depend on the subject, language, budget, season and personal circumstances.

Understanding the destination

The UAE is a regional higher-education hub with federal universities, private institutions and international branch campuses. English-taught degrees are common, particularly in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Check campus accreditation, programme accreditation and whether the qualification meets requirements in the country where you intend to work.

Dubai’s skyline and desert experiences, Abu Dhabi’s cultural district and mosques, Sharjah’s museums, Ras Al Khaimah’s mountains and Fujairah’s coastline make the Emirates suitable for city breaks and family travel.

  • Undergraduate: secondary-school completion or equivalent; subject prerequisites may apply.

Institutions to research

These are practical starting points with official institutional websites. Programme availability, international intake, tuition and admission requirements must be checked for the exact intake and course.

Do not assume that every listed university offers every subject in English or accepts applications through the same route. Check the official international admissions page and national recognition/accreditation register before recommending a programme.

Programmes & tuition

Tuition varies by institution, level, discipline, language, campus and student nationality. Medicine, laboratory-based courses, business schools and private institutions may have substantially different fee structures.

  • Request the current fee schedule for the exact course and intake.
  • Check application, registration, examination, insurance and laboratory charges.
  • Ask whether fees are annual, semester-based or total-programme amounts.
  • Confirm refund, deposit and deferral policies in writing.

Scholarships & funding

Institutional merit awards, need-based assistance and selected government scholarship schemes exist. Eligibility and award size differ by university, nationality, programme and intake. Secure the exact written award conditions before budgeting.

  • Check nationality and programme eligibility.
  • Confirm whether a separate scholarship application is needed.
  • Review renewal grades, attendance and duration conditions.
  • Calculate the funding gap after living costs and uncovered fees.
05 · STUDENT VISA & ADMISSION

From application to arrival

Immigration decisions are made by the relevant authorities. The university and visa route must be confirmed before paying deposits or booking travel.

Student immigration overview

International students usually obtain a student residence visa through an accredited university or an eligible parent sponsor. The university normally guides the application after admission. Requirements may include a valid passport, admission/enrolment evidence, medical fitness screening, Emirates ID/residence formalities and health insurance, depending on the emirate and sponsor. A student residence visa is separate from a tourist/visit visa; confirm the sponsor, validity, renewal and cancellation conditions with the university before paying deposits.

STEP 01

Profile review

Assess academic records, subject prerequisites, language, budget and intended intake.

STEP 02

Shortlist

Compare official programme pages, tuition, recognition and scholarship conditions.

STEP 03

Apply

Prepare certified documents, submit the application and complete interviews or tests.

STEP 04

Visa & enrolment

Follow the institution's immigration instructions and complete pre-departure checks.

Typical document checklist

  • Valid passport and application form
  • Academic certificates and transcripts
  • Language test or medium-of-instruction evidence, if accepted
  • Statement of purpose / study plan and CV where required
  • Recommendation letters, portfolio or research proposal where relevant
  • Financial evidence, medical/insurance documents and translations as required

Accommodation & living costs

Compare university residences, private student housing, shared apartments and homestays. Ask about deposits, utilities, meal plans, commute times and contract length. Living-cost estimates should be built city by city and include insurance, local transport, phone, study materials and emergency funds.

Part-time work rights are not a substitute for proof of funds. Check the exact legal limits and permission requirements for your visa category.

06 · TOURISM & TRAVEL

Explore United Arab Emirates beyond the classroom

Dubai’s skyline and desert experiences, Abu Dhabi’s cultural district and mosques, Sharjah’s museums, Ras Al Khaimah’s mountains and Fujairah’s coastline make the Emirates suitable for city breaks and family travel.

Best time to visit

November–March is generally the most comfortable outdoor season. Summer is extremely hot; plan indoor attractions and check Ramadan opening hours and public-holiday schedules.

Flights from India

Frequent direct and one-stop services connect major Indian cities with Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. Compare airport, baggage, transit conditions and arrival time; routes vary by season and airline.

Getting around

Indian ordinary passport holders should not assume visa-free entry to the UAE. A limited 14-day visa on arrival may be available to Indian citizens holding a qualifying valid US visa/Green Card or UK/EU residence visa (with required validity); other qualifying residence permits may be covered under the federal ICP route. Travellers who do not meet the conditions generally need a pre-arranged visit visa through an authorised airline, hotel, travel agency or UAE sponsor. Passport validity and supporting-document conditions apply.

Hotels & accommodation

Choose accommodation by neighbourhood and transport access, not only nightly price. Compare cancellation terms, taxes, breakfast, airport transfer, family-room configuration and late check-in. In peak periods, reserve refundable options early.

07 · PLACES & EXPERIENCES

Transport, tickets & entry fees

Use official attraction websites or authorised ticket sellers for current admission prices, timed-entry reservations and closure notices. Budget for local transit, intercity travel, airport transfers and guided excursions separately. Keep digital and offline copies of tickets and accommodation details.

Indicative travel budget

Indicative Dubai planning range: a budget traveller sharing a room may spend about AED 185–340 per person per day on accommodation, meals, local transport and modest sightseeing; a mid-range traveller may spend around AED 410–720. A 4-night/5-day budget trip from India has been estimated at roughly ₹47,000–78,000 per person including return flights, visa, shared accommodation and selected attractions. These figures are planning examples, not quotes; Abu Dhabi, resort areas, peak dates and premium attractions can cost more.

Deira and Bur Dubai often offer better-value hotels with metro access than Downtown, Marina or Palm areas. Check the tourism dirham hotel fee, taxes, breakfast, transfer charges and cancellation conditions. Reference: 2026 Dubai trip-cost breakdown for Indian travellers ↗

Current entry and study-permit checks

Official-source check for planning purposes. Reconfirm the rules for the traveller’s nationality, exact purpose and intended travel date before payment or departure.

Indian visitor entry: verify the correct route before booking. Indian ordinary passport holders generally need a pre-arranged UAE visit visa. A limited visa-on-arrival facility applies only when the traveller meets the UAE’s qualifying foreign-visa or residence-permit conditions and passport-validity rules; it is not a blanket visa-free facility for all Indian visitors. The UAE Embassy in New Delhi says ordinary-passport tourist visas are arranged through a UAE sponsor or eligible booking/airline/travel channel. Check the latest ICP conditions for your own passport and supporting documents. For study, use the separate student-residence route arranged through the university or eligible sponsor; a visit visa is not permission to enrol as a resident student.

Programme and university verification: use these official sources to filter actual courses, confirm international entry routes, and check fees for the intake:

Tuition and student-living costs: Costs vary by institution, programme, campus, intake, nationality, scholarship conditions and accommodation choice. Use the official fee schedules linked here to check the exact course and intake. Public guidance should not be treated as a fixed quotation; detailed comparisons and individual budget planning are handled through the destination brochure and counsellor discussion.
